FAQ
General
Furniture should always be lifted not dragged when being moved.
Teak
Teak is a wood which has particularly good properties for production of furniture and interior fittings. It is hard, heavy, elastic and contains oils which gives it great resistance to moisture. We only use wood from Indonesian plantations to make our teak products. These are treated in 3 steps with lacquer to obtain a weathered worn grey colour. The treatments / lacquer will gradually fade over time after continued exposure to sunlight and water. Splits, cracking and slight movement should be expected as timber is a natural product.
Care: All of our outdoor teak dining tables come with a bottle of Golden Care Teak Shield. It can be purchased from your Artwood stockist for other teak products. Leave the furniture to weather for three months, then clean the furniture with a damp cloth, apply the Golden Care Teak Shield with a soft cloth, once dry the furniture may be used again, this process should be repeated every three months.
Teak Shield is an almost invisible wood protector that utilises nano technology and makes it difficult for water, wine, olive oil and butter to seep into teak. It is also suitable for the protection of indoor wooden furniture. It helps to prevent stains whilst retaining the natural look of the surface and also has a built in mould and mildew inhibitor.
Failure to care for your teak products may void our warranty.

Cushions – Outdoor

Any time cushions are exposed to wet conditions, they need to be dried thoroughly and over winter months we recommend storing cushions inside or under cover, as failure to dry thoroughly may result in mould or mildew.

Rattan
Our products are made from various types of rattan material, all from plantations in Indonesia. Kubu, slimlit, lacak and malaka are the materials we generally use. The surface is treated with water based / eco-friendly colouring varnish. Recommended for indoor use, when our rattan planters are left outside with plants, they will breakdown overtime.
Care: Brush off any dirt and wipe with a damp cloth. Colour may fade after prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Lanterns
Our lanterns are an indoor product, but may be used outside. After use, storage inside is recommended.
Concrete
Our concrete furniture is constructed entirely of natural materials, such as granite stone flour, cement and water. The concrete is cast by hand, therefore some variation of thickness, colour and finish may occur. The products are then sealed with a finishing wax to provide protection from stains and moisture. The furniture should be treated with wax every 3 – 6 months depending on use and placement. We DO NOT recommend leaving concrete furniture outside uncovered over the winter months as this may result in cracking and moisture damage.
Care: We recommend spot cleaning with a mild detergent mixed with water. We do not recommend abrasive household cleaning products, which often contain citrus based ingredients that may strip the outer layer of protection. We recommend resealing the furniture with furniture wax every 3-6 months. In between waxing, the products can be polished with oil to refresh the appearance, everyday olive oil would be suitable. Apply a generous amount of oil to saturate the surface and polish in a circular motion until the concrete is uniform and no longer absorbs the oil.
We have two products available for purchase which will help to protect and extend the life of your concrete outdoor furniture.
IMPORTANT: Any concrete product with a lip (Tonga and Dacota Coffee Table / Side Table) need to be kept under cover if being used outside.
Powder Coated Aluminium
Our powder coated aluminium ranges include Anson and Estepona. These products are constructed of aluminium, then powder coasted for protection. They require very little maintenance and can be cleaned with a damp cloth as required. If you scratch the finish you will need to reseal it with a protector to restore the colour.
